Contact Pressure Balancing Tire Size Calculator

If you don't see the calculator, your browser does not have JavaScript enabled.

Tip: For cars with engines at the opposite end of the drive wheels, you may want to run wider tire width on the drive axle than indicated by this calculator!

This JavaScript form is used to calculate the tire widths for a four-wheeled vehicle that produce identical or nearly identical contact pressures on both the front and rear tires, based on front and rear axle weights. To put it simply, this calculator generates a list of tire pairs with a width distribution that matches the front-to-rear weight distribution of the vehicle. Note that if the weight is distributed unevenly from side to side, contact pressure will vary accordingly.

Follow all vehicle manufacturer's instructions carefully when selecting tire sizes. Using the wrong tire sizes can cause problems with safety, handling, speedometer accuracy, and powertrain management systems. Use this calculator at your own risk!
